Artist Statement
My practice has become my best way of paying attention. To what’s around me and to what feels important enough to continue returning to. I regularly write, sketch, and consider what I’m experiencing. Small-scale works act as spaces for me to be present, testing what feels worth further exploration. These recurring themes then become meaningful enough to support larger-scale work, sometimes becoming full installations. My process expands outward and then becomes intimate again, while at each stage remaining connected to this quiet, daily rhythm.
Artist Bio
Taylor Ross is a multidisciplinary artist living and working in Des Moines, Iowa. He received his BFA in Intermedia and is currently completing his MFA at Maharishi International University. He teaches at the Des Moines Art Center and has owned and operated Arcadian Tattoo Studio for 12 years. His practice moves between drawing, painting, sculpture, installation, and tattooing. He is interested in the ways art can create spaces for attention, reflection, and connection. Outside of making, he loves experiencing and collecting art.
